Creating and changing a gift
ContentsWhat can I change before I seal a gift?
While you are working on a draft, you can change the message, names, and goodies, or rearrange and remove items. Use Edit goodie to revise an item, then Save goodie to return it to your box. Check the editor’s save status before leaving.
There is room for 10,000 characters in each note and 2,000 in the message on your box. Captions allow 2,000, and gift, location, and coupon notes allow 5,000. Each field shows its count. If you go over a limit, your full input stays in the editor so you can shorten it before adding the goodie or sealing the gift. Check the save status to confirm your browser draft was saved.
When everything feels right, choose Seal your digital care package. This creates an online snapshot and a new private link. Copy that link to share it. Later draft changes cannot change the sealed gift, so take a moment to check the version you are sending.
Can I edit a gift after sending its link?
Sealing fixes the version your recipient opens, so a shared link continues to show the gift you originally sent. That sealed gift is an immutable snapshot: its contents cannot be edited, even by its creator or the person who preserved it. You can still make a revised version.
- Resume your original draft in Drafts & links, if it is still there, or make an editable copy of the available gift.
- Make your changes and choose Seal your digital care package to generate a new link.
- Share the new link with your recipient.
The old link keeps its original contents and does not redirect. Creating the revised gift is free. The new gift is not automatically preserved; if you already preserved the old one, check whether you can correct the voucher’s chosen gift before using another voucher.
How do I copy a gift into an editable draft?
In the homepage editor, choose Copy a gift from a link, paste this site’s gift link, and choose Make an editable copy. The editor saves your current draft before opening the copy; if saving fails, resolve that error before continuing.
If you already have the gift open, unwrap the box and choose Make an editable copy at the bottom of its contents, alongside Make a free care package. You do not need to open every goodie or paste its link again.
Drafts & links also has a Copy a gift from a link form. A record in Generated links offers Make an editable copy.
An available or preserved gift is copied into a new editable draft in this browser, including its photos, voice notes, and drawings. The original gift and its preservation stay unchanged. Copying requires no sign-in, spends no voucher, and creates no online link. Edit the copy, then seal it when you are ready to share a new link.
Gifts with hidden contents in recovery, or gifts that are deleting, deleted, or unavailable, cannot be copied into drafts.
What if photos, voice notes, or a save are missing?
Missing media or an incomplete save is a problem to resolve. Sealing a gift does not normally remove its photos, voice notes, or drawings. If the editor shows Unsaved or a saving error, keep the tab open and check that this browser allows website storage before trying again.
Look for your draft in Drafts & links. If the online gift is still available, you can copy its saved contents into a new draft and add anything missing before sealing again. Copying cannot recover content that was never saved. If copying fails or media are still missing, contact support with the gift link and what happened. Cleared or overwritten local data may be unrecoverable.
Vouchers, payments, and corrections
ContentsHow do I use a voucher to preserve a gift?
- Sign in and open your keepsake vouchers.
- Choose one of your gifts, or paste the private link of the gift you want to keep.
- Select the confirmation checkbox beside the action, then click Use 1 voucher.
The preview loads automatically to help identify the gift. There is no separate review step, and you do not need to wait for the preview to finish to submit. Choosing a link, seeing a preview, or checking the box alone spends nothing. Changing the chosen gift clears the checkbox so you can confirm the new target. Wait for the preservation success message to know the voucher was used.
Does buying vouchers preserve a gift automatically?
Buying gives your signed-in account unused vouchers. It never preserves a gift automatically, including when you buy from a gift page or return from checkout. After payment is confirmed, choose a gift and explicitly use a voucher on the keepsakes page.
One voucher preserves one gift. Unused vouchers do not expire, and voucher packs are one-time purchases with no subscription. A purchase confirmation means your vouchers were issued; a preservation confirmation means a voucher was used on your chosen gift. You can buy now and choose later. See voucher packs or the refund policy for purchase details.
I preserved the wrong gift. Can I move the voucher?
You can move a redeemed voucher once, before 7 days (168 hours) have elapsed since its first use. Sign in to the same account that redeemed it, open your keepsakes, and choose Correct chosen gift. Select a different, unpreserved gift before its deletion deadline, check the confirmation, and click Confirm voucher correction. The original must still be preserved by that voucher. Correction closes at the exact deadline and cannot be repeated or reversed.
On success, the new gift is preserved. The old link always restarts the full current 4-day viewing and 3-day recovery periods from that moment. Its contents stay the same. Share the new gift’s own link.
I paid, but my vouchers are missing or payment is pending. What now?
Sign in to the account you used at checkout, open your keepsakes, and click Refresh balance. Check Voucher history for the purchase and its current status. A zero unused balance together with an order in progress does not establish that payment completed.
If your payment provider shows a charge but the purchase remains unconfirmed, contact support with the account email, purchase reference if available, and the provider’s transaction reference. Avoid paying again to resolve the same order. Confirmation can depend on the payment provider; there is no fixed processing time promised here. Once vouchers appear, you still need to choose a gift and use one explicitly.
Viewing, privacy, and retention
ContentsHow long is a gift free to view?
Every newly sealed gift is free to make, share, and open for 4 days. Nothing inside is paywalled during that time, and payment is optional.
After viewing ends, the contents are hidden for a further 3 days before deletion. A voucher can preserve the gift before that deletion deadline. If the gift only needed to be here for the moment, you can simply let it expire.
Open the private gift link to check its current availability and deadlines. Records in your browser’s Generated links tab help you find links; they are not a live report of whether a gift is still online.
Can I bring back an expired gift?
If the gift is in its hidden recovery period, you can still preserve it with a voucher before its deletion deadline. Open the gift link or paste it into your keepsakes, confirm the target, and click Use 1 voucher. The preview shows identifying details and deadlines while the contents remain hidden. Successful preservation makes the contents available again.
Once the gift is deleted, it cannot be restored or imported from that link. An independent draft still saved in Drafts & links may let you create a new gift. The new gift gets its own link; it does not restore the deleted one.
What does preserving a gift mean?
Preservation removes a sealed gift’s automatic expiry date and keeps its private link available for the life of the service, subject to the terms and the retention rules in our privacy policy. This is not a promise of permanent storage.
The gift stays exactly as sealed. Preservation does not give the payer content ownership or the right to edit or delete it. If you want to change the contents, create a revised gift and share its new link. A voucher’s chosen gift can only be corrected under the limited correction rules above. A correction does not restart refund eligibility; see the refund policy.
Who can open or preserve a private gift link?
Anyone you trust with the long private link can open a gift while it is available. Keep the link within the circle you intend to share it with: someone who receives it can pass it on. Signing in is not required just to view an available gift.
Any signed-in person with a voucher and the link can preserve the gift, even if a friend created it. That does not make them its owner or let them change its contents. For a group, one purchaser can use their own voucher pack on several chosen gifts. Vouchers are not transferred or shared between accounts.
Browser drafts and finding links
ContentsWhere are my drafts saved, and do they sync?
Your draft saves in the browser you are using, including writing, photos, voice notes, drawings, and unfinished goodie composition. Look for Saved to this browser in the editor, and resume it through Drafts & links. You can use this library without signing in.
Drafts do not sync to an account, another browser, or another device. Private browsing and clearing website data can make them unavailable. Their lifetimes are independent of the online gift’s 4-day viewing and 3-day recovery periods. A draft can remain here after an online gift expires, and deleting local data does not delete a gift you already sealed online.
How do draft limits, cleanup, and Keep work?
The default limit is 20 drafts. Starting an empty gift or opening an empty goodie does not use a draft slot; writing or adding media starts one. Open Browser settings in Drafts & links to change the count limit or review old drafts.
Automatic cleanup is off by default. If enabled, it only makes room when you reach the limit by removing eligible old drafts, starting with the oldest. Drafts open for editing and drafts marked Keep are excluded. Lowering the limit does not immediately delete anything. Keep protects against automatic cleanup only: you can still manually delete that draft, and browser-data clearing can remove it.
Does deleting a draft or link record delete the online gift?
No. Deleting a draft, removing a Generated links record, or choosing Clear all local creation data removes the selected local records from this browser. It does not change online gifts, your vouchers, your account, or your login state.
Read the confirmation carefully before deleting: local draft removal can include work open in another tab, and deleted drafts cannot be restored through the library. Removing a link record also removes that local way of finding the URL, so copy a link you still need first. Conversely, online gift expiry does not automatically remove its draft or link record from your browser.
How can I find a lost or unfinished generated link?
First, open Drafts & links in the same browser and device you used to make the gift. Check Generated links and use Copy link or Open gift. If you created it while signed in, also check your account’s gifts.
If sealing was interrupted and the editor offers Recover generated link, use it to check for the gift that was already created. The recovered link belongs to that sealed version; later draft edits are saved separately and are not part of it.
Check messages where you shared the link, too. If local history or recovery data were cleared or overwritten, recovery may not be possible. Contact support if you still need help.
